Day 1! 12-7-2014
Today we travelled the complete day. My trip to Uganda started in the car to Schiphol, I was a bit nervous, but when we arrived at Schiphol it was gone. At Schiphol we met the other worldmappers (20 in total). We said goodbye to our parents and from that moment the trip to Uganda could really begin. First we flew to Istanbul. The flight went well, but we arrived a bit late in Istanbult, so we had to hurry to take the other flight from Istanbul to Uganda. Luckily we were on time! During the flight from Istanbul to Uganda I had a conversation with the man sitting next to me. Unfortunately I tought the flight would tae 6 hours, but actually it took us more than 8 hours to fly to Instanbul. 8 Hourst we arrived in Uganda!! It was still warm and luckily we did not need to build up our tents, because4 we could sleep in Entebbe.
P.s. the sleeping part took only 2 1/2 hours

Day 2! 13-7-2014
Today we had to wake up early in the morning. The breakfast was delicious! It existed out of pineapple, watermelon, bread and egg. It was a really ood start of the day. After breakfast we had a meeting with some parner's of worldmapping. After the meeting we packed our bags again and loaded it on the bus. The bustrip from Entebbe to Masaka took us around the 5 1/2 hours, it was a long ride, but it was beautiful to see all those small houses, the vegetation and the happy inhabitants of Uganda. During the trip we also stopped at the equator, of course we all had to take some picture with one foot in the north and one fout in the south. Around 6 pm we arrived in Pelido, our first project. We discussed the programm and played with all the kids around our sleeping place (a church). It was fascinating to see how yyou can mae this kids happy with just a small thing, like smilingg to them asking their name or giving a high five. Alo we jumped rope with them, their smile when they were jumping can't be described in some words. Beautiful to see how they can enjoy the small things in life. Unluckily we couldn't play with them the whole day. After this we had diner together and we ended the day with building the tents, which actually took us longer than we hoped.

Day 3! 14-7-2014
Today the real programm of voluntary work started! Of course the day begun with breaakfast (wateremelone, pineapple, banana and bread with jam). After breakfast the group was divided into 3 smaller groups. I was in group A and we had to start with making stoves in 2 different houses (group B= landcare and group C= waterproject). We had to make 2 stoves in total. Firstly some chopping of grass, after that stamping of sand, water and the grass we already chopped, than we had to move the substance to their kitchen and lastyly we really made the stove with the 'clay'. The productions of the 2 stoves went really well, till one of the boys chopped in his fingers. Luckily we were almost finished, so we could go home to our tents. When we arrived at the church (our sleeping place) many childrenn were playing in front on the building. We started jumping rope again with the kids and we made some foto's together. They lliked to see themselves after making a picture, which was really funny to see! At the end we blew up some baloons, however this was really a disaster! Everyone wanted to have a baloon. Before I could blow up the balloon, someone already took it out of my hands. After this we had a trip through the community of Pelido. They showed us their pigs programm and their chicken programm, their pineapple fields and some shops. They also showed us some vegetation and some fruit trees and we were also allowed tlso eat all those different kind of fruits, it was delicious! We went back to the sleeping place and most of us took a shower. It wasn't a normal shower, but a place outside were we could wash ourselves with some jerrycans. The water was cold! We ended the day with dinner and a campfire. The campfire was really cool and we all sang some English songs together.

Day 4! 15-7-2014
As normally, the day started with breakfast. After this I went with my group to the waterproject. The purpose of the project was to give the community cleaner water. Actually we could not help them much, because we were not really good in the work, but we tried and we helped them with the things we could do. The rest of the time we played with the kids and we learned them the song: 'head, shoulder, knees and toes'. After this project we ate something at our sleeping place. In the afternoon we helped the schoolchildren with reading in English. I learned them to pronounce the words better and it really helped! After that we had a football match against their schoolteam, luckily it wass 1-1, but they were a lot better than us!. The day ended with dinner and of course the campfire.
