Day 5!
Today was the last day at Pelido. The day started again with breakfast and after this my group went to the land project. Together with some local inhabitants we duck a ditch for irrigation. It was heavy work and also a bit warm, but at the end of the morning the result was there! In the afternoon a goodbye party was planned. Kids of the school sang for us the song: ‘we are sorry to say goodbye’. During the dance they called our names and that was the moment we had to come to dance with them. It was great to see all those kids singing and laughing when we started dancing. When they finished their songs, we learned them: ‘head, shoulders, knees and toes’. They were all dancing with us. The goodbye party ended with an impressive speech and we donated a rope to the children, because they liked to play with that. Of course today we also had dinner and we ended the day with singing at a campfire.

Day 6!
Today we moved to our second project named Kim. The day started with breaking down the tents and after that we ate breakfast. Than the trip to Kim could really start (it took us 4 hours). When we arrived at Kim, the group was divided into 3 new groups. My group had to start with home visits on the boda boda. A boda boda is a kind of scooter, which is really common in Uganda. We had to weigh kid that were underfed. We visited a boy named Tom, who was underfed and as a result of this he couldn’t walk anymore. In total we visited 5 children and after this we went back to Kim’s place and visited a high hill with a beautiful view of the sunset. We ended the day with a delicious dinner (spaghetti, potatoes, guacamole and a kind of chips). We took a shower, which you actually can’t call a shower because it was just a beaker with water and than we went to our bed in the ‘chicken house’ (luckily with chickens anymore).

Day 7!
Of course today started again with breakfast. After breakfast we started with the program. My group had to make peanut butter. Peanut butter contains many vessels which makes it good food for underfed children. First we had to sort peanuts and after that, we put it together in a machine with sin sin, the result: peanut butter. When our own peanut butter was finished, we ate some pineapple, matoke (made out of banana) and some rice. Than the second part of the program started. My group had to work on the land. Kim uses the land to grow crops, so she can give the food to the underfed children. I really appreciate her system and I think it is also a really smart system. We ended our program of the day with tasting the peanut. I really don’t like peanut butter at home, but this one was delicious! Than we went to a local hospital for underfed children, which was really impressive, because there were children who only weigh 3,9 kilogram. After our visit we moved to Kim’s place again. We ate pancakes, we made some fun together and we packed our bags, because tomorrow we will drive to lake Buyoni!

Day 8!
Today we woke up really early. We ate some breakfast and the trip to the lake could really begin. Unfortunately it was a really long trip, but when we arrived, we still could swim in the lake! Immediately jumped everyone in the lake and most of us also jumped out a tree. The temperature of the water was fine and so was the weather. When everyone finished swimming and showering, we ate a really delicious dinner with fish and chips. After that we loaded our telephones and watched football. Also we made some fun together around the campfire. Than we went sleeping, tomorrow will be a relaxing day!

Day 9!
Today we can do whatever we like! There is no program planned for us, so we woke up later than normally. As normally, we started the day with breakfast, the breakfast consisted out of bread with egg. After breakfast we played volleyball, because it was still too cold to swim. We hoped the weather would change, but unfortunately it didn’t, so we did not swim a lot today. After volleyball we canoed in a hollowed tree trunk. It was really difficult to go to one of the other parts of the land, because we were just turning rounds with the boat. The rest of the day I read some magazines and we made some fun together. It was a really relaxing and beautiful day, but unfortunately this changed a bit because people had to go to the hospital, because they weren’t feeling well. Luckily all worldmappers did not have to stay over there in the hospital. We ended the day with dinner (beans with rice).

Day 10!
Today is my birthday!!! I was woke by 2 friends who sung for me and I even got some presents. Today we moved to our last accommodation called Lwengo. The trip took us 9 hours. Our sleeping place is in a school, namely in one of the school classes. There are many children around our sleeping place. We played a bit with them, ate dinner and ended the day with a evaluation and a game of ‘weerwolven’. Tomorrow the real programm of Lwengo will start.

Day 11!
Today we woke up a 7:30 am. Of course we ate breakfast and after breakfast one of the leaders of the Lwengo project came to visit us and told us what kind of project Lwengo was, the values and standards of Lwengo and what we were going to do to help the people of the Lwengo community. The groups were divided and I had to start with making a water tank for the local people. I really enjoyed making the water tank, it was fun and you also really saw a result. In the afternoon we gave a classroom a complete makeover, because we painted the walls. Than it was time for dinner and we ended the day again with some games of ‘weerwolven’.
